A Junior at the University of Central Florida, Maria Nunez is currently majoring in English Literature with a minor in Magazine Journalism.  To Maria, Feminism is important because she loves reading and writing about women who have come to power through their work. As a Hispanic, she sees the importance in subverting the stigmas attached to the word “feminist” within her culture.  Maria believes that Feminism in Latin America should be celebrated openly and freely, as it should be a celebration of femininity and women coming to voice and power, feeling free to do whatever they want in life without the cultural backlash that could possibly follow.
