Pure, Raw Beauty
by Jessica Inman

Women and men are completely diverse
For centuries our roles were very well-rehearsed

Women stayed home while the men went to work
Women rarely were indulged with society’s perks

Although times are drastically changed today

Women still struggle in several different ways

Many women are battling body image doubts
Several are attempting to look like society’s ideal cookie cut-out

Many are primping for the perfect man
Piling on makeup and the perfect tan

But although the masquerade may be elaborate
The fact of the matter is many feel inadequate

Numerous of us women look to men for felicity
Thinking a man will make us feel perfectly

However, despite a man at our side
He can never give us pride

He cannot teach us to love who we are
He is not there to make us feel up to par

For that we must look deep within
Begin to feel comfortable in our own skin

We must admire what makes us uniquely beautiful
Other people’s opinions are not crucial

It is not a matter of death or life
If not all women want to be the perfect housewife

It helps to see how far women have come
How many amazing things us women have done

We have dealt with things from the guys that are beyond unjust
And yet we have proved our strength, and continue we must

But first we must love ourselves
Deep into our emotions we must delve

All of us have a strong woman inside
We have to prompt that woman not to hide

Pure, raw beauty is finding one’s identity
Pure, raw beauty is loving oneself freely and openly
